Euro 2012 Football Betting - Spain looking to retain title

The European Championships is arguably the second biggest tournament in football as it brings together some of the best football nations in the world. It always creates a huge interest due to the quality of football, the intense competition and the multitude of superstars on show. The 2012 tournament will see Spain going for a unique treble following their success at Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010.
For the first time the European Football Championships will take place in the nations of Ukraine and Poland between 8th June - 1st July 2012. Both countries have promised a spectacular showpiece and one that will long live in the memory.
This site provides a comprehensive guide to just about everything you could wish to know about the Euro 2012 Championships, including an in-depth coverage of all 16 teams, a guide to the eight venues hosting all 31 matches, as well as the latest Euro 2012 Betting information, specials and odds.
Euro 2012 Group Draw
The Euro 2012 Group Draw produced four interesting groups, with this tournament's 'Group of Death' most certainly Group B, which contains Netherlands, Denmark, Germany and Portugal.
- Group A: Poland, Greece, Russia, Czech Republic
- Group B: Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Portugal
- Group C: Spain, Italy, Republic of Ireland, Croatia
- Group D: Ukraine, Sweden, France, England
The opening match of the tournament is Poland v Greece on Friday 8th June 2012, which will be played at the National Stadium in Warsaw.
Euro 2012 Teams
Defending champions Spain head into the tournament looking to retain the title they won back in 2008. Managed by Vicente del Bosque, Spain are widely considered the best team in the world, and it comes as no surprise that they are most people's favourites to win Euro 2012. However, they will face stiff competition from Germany who are always a threat in major tournaments, while Holland, France, England and Italy will also be gunning for glory.
England, so often underachievers in major tournaments, will be looking to prove that they can at last channel the huge expectation and pressure into positive energy. The Three Lions have assembled a decent combination of youth and experience but the absence of star player Wayne Rooney for the first two matches could ultimately prove costly.
Portugal, Russia and Greece are all a threat on their day, as are Sweden and co-hosts Poland and Ukraine who will both be hoping to put on a strong performance on home soil.
European Championship Odds
Euro 2012 will be the 14th European Championships since the tournament was first played in 1960 in France. Spain are the warm favourites in the Euro 2012 Odds to retain their title and win what would be their third major tournament in succession.
As always Germany feature strongly in the betting as do rivals Holland. Both countries have fallen victim to Spain in major tournament finals of late and will be desperate to go one step better this time round. France and Italy are also in contention, while England and Portugal will be hoping to add their name to the list of European Championship Winners.
Top Goalscorer Betting
In any major football tournament the Top Goalscorer Betting market is always popular and Euro 2012 promises to be no different. Europe's finest strikers head to Poland & Ukraine not only looking to win the tournament but claim the prized Golden Boot in the process. Key names to look out for this summer include the prolific Mario Gomez, Robin van Persie and Christian Ronaldo who have all been in scintillating form for their respective club teams this season. However, it remains to be seen whether they can replicate this form for their country this summer.
Euro 2012 Format
The 16 teams have been split into four groups (A-D), each consisting of four teams. The two best teams in each group will progress through to the knockout phase of the tournament, starting with the quarter-finals. Take a look at our Euro 2012 Format page for more information on dates and fixtures.
