England 1-0 Ukraine
England' beat co-hosts Ukraine in what was a closely fought match in Donetsky. The win meant that England finished top of Group D, and will now go on to face Italy in the quarter-finals.
Ukraine dominated for much of the first-half but couldn't find a way past the England back-line. Roy Hodgson obviously gave his struggling side a stern talking to at half-time as they responded with a goal almost straight away. Steven Gerrard's cross from the right wing took a couple of deflections before falling perfectly to the eturning Wayne Rooney who nodded in what proved to be the winner. However, Ukraine will feel aggrieved after Marko Devic shot was shown to go over the line mid-way through the second-half, but it was not given and their pleas went unheard.
