Euro 2008 will be Turkey’s third appearance at the Championship having qualified for the tournament by finishing runner up to Greece in qualifying Group C. Their best effort in previous European Championships came in Euro 2000 when they were beaten in the Quarter Finals by Portugal.

Turkey lack pedigree in major tournaments having only appeared in two World Cups in addition to two previous European Championships.
